Hello there! I've put together this blog to help you understand exactly what happens from start to finish.

Booking Feel The Funk Disco

1) Contact me here for a quote. I (DJ James Stephens) DJ all Feel The Funk Disco's events.

2) To secure the booking, a reservation fee of £100 is due. You will also be required to read and sign the Terms and Conditions. You can have a completely free, no-obligation video call beforehand if you would like to ask any questions.

3) Once the booking is confirmed, you will be provided with a sales receipt and the signed contract, for your records.

The Build Up

4) You’ll be sent an online worksheet to complete at your own pace. It autosaves, so there’s no need to fill it all in at once. As long as it’s completed at least 30 days before your wedding, you’re all set. The worksheet helps me understand the music you love, as well as anything you’d rather avoid. The goal is simple: to create a party exactly how you imagine it, from the first song to the last. You can be as hands-on or hands-off as you like. Some couples provide a full playlist that they would like me to follow, others give me complete freedom, and many choose something in between. During this process, you’re welcome to have as many video calls with me as you need, and we can also meet in person if you’d like. Don’t hesitate to make any bespoke requests. For example, you might like a custom edit of your first dance, or you may have an idea for a specific game during the evening that you'd like me to host. All of this is included at no extra cost. You even have a choice between which DJ booth you'd like!

5) Four weeks before your wedding, you’ll receive an invoice for the remaining balance. I’ll also arrange a video call to go through everything you’ve added to the online worksheet, although we can meet face to face if you’d prefer. This ensures we’re fully aligned and gives you complete confidence ahead of the big day.

6) About a week before your big day, I start preparing the music. I make sure all your requests are downloaded and also think about other songs you might like based on what you’ve sent me. I’ll have a few ideas on how I'm going to transition through different stages of the night, but sometimes spontaneity is king! I spend a lot of time mapping out transitions and how I'm going to mix, thinking about different drops I might do based on your music tastes. But don’t worry—I genuinely enjoy doing it!

The Big Day

6) I’ll arrive at your venue around 75 to 90 minutes before my scheduled start time. Once there, I’ll introduce myself to the wedding coordinator and begin setting up, which usually takes around 50 minutes. After everything is ready, I’ll get changed into smart attire and put on some background music. You’ll usually have a planned time for when the party is due to begin, but I’m very flexible. Fancy another drink first? Absolutely fine. Ready to get dancing straight away? Let’s go.

7) If you’ve planned a grand entrance, cake cutting, or first dance, I’ll guide things on the microphone to ensure everything flows smoothly. Once the party begins and your guests hit the dancefloor, I let the music and mixing do the talking. Whether you’re happy for guests to make requests or would rather they not, it's entirely up to you. We’ll cover all of this before the big day, so you can relax knowing the evening party is completely taken care of. And of course, it goes without saying, but YOU are the VIPs! This is your special day, so if there’s anything spontaneous you want to do on the night—whether it’s an unplanned game or a specific song you forgot to mention on the worksheet—just let me know!

8) I like to keep in touch with as many of my couples as possible. The best way is to follow me on Instagram! I'll follow you back, and we can watch eachothers journies 😊
